Today I need to tell you about a new TV show called, Drive. It premiered on Sunday with 2 episodes and followed with a 3rd episode on Monday night. All I knew about this show was what my husband told me - it's Nathan Fillion driving. What more do you need than Nathan (from Firefly and Buffy)?
"But what's the show about?" I asked.
"It's an illegal, cross-country road race," my husband replied.
Sounds...um....thrilling. I'm not remotely interested, except that it's Nathan Fillion.
We recorded all the 3 hours and watched them last night. First off, I was pleasantly surprised to see that one of the producers/writers is Tim Minear who was behind some of my old favorites - Buffy, Angel, Firefly, and Wonderfalls. I have to say that the show immediately captured my interest. It is action-packed with a good bit of mystery. There are a lot of characters to follow - a la Lost. But I think they do a good job of introducing the characters and explaining why they are involved in this race. Also the dialogue is pretty good (which I can't say of too many shows - even the ones I watch regularly) - complete with the sort of quips we've come to expect from Buffy and Angel.
Granted, we're only 3 episodes in but if the shows continues to be this good....well, I'll probably get completely absorbed in it right before it gets canceled. So I'm asking you to watch at least 1 episode and see if you don't get hooked. Maybe it won't get canceled if enough people watch..... maybe. Monday nights at 8/7 PM on Fox. Let me know what you think!

I've been hesitant to add any more new shows to my roster, and I'd also read mixed reviews of this show -- which explains why I didn't watch. But based on your review, I'm willing to give it a shot. Do you know if they plan to re-air the first 3 eps?
I don't know....I hope so. I'll see if I can find out.
Doesn't look like they're going to be aired again - not anytime soon, at least. But you can watch online at http://www.fox.com/drive/. They also have really detailed episode recaps if you don't want to spend 3 hours watching online.
Why wouldnt we want to spend 3 hours watching online? It's the perfect way to spend one's work day! :-D
Sounds intriguing! (Even though i never watched a single episode of Buffy or Angel)
Denise never forced you to watch Buffy??? I'm truly shocked by that.
Haha. Nope, never forced me. I'm watching Drive now and about 10 minutes into the first episode and already I'm hooked!
Yay! It gets better even.
Uhm, aren't you supposed to be using those work hours to study for that exam, Miss Kelly?
I finally got around to watching the first episode on the Fox website. I enjoyed it ok and was definitely intrigued by the various mysteries, but not quite enough to want to watch the next two eps. I'm sorry. I tried! But I'm also just not keen on adding any more new shows to my viewing schedule. :( If you and Kelly really get into it, though, and it keeps being good I might be willing to give it another try later.
